Latest Updates from Our Project:

Quality Control Issues
over 5 years ago – Mon, Aug 20, 2018 at 09:22:33 AM

I know this isn't the update everyone is hoping for and I apologize as we work through some kinks in the system. We have been using the same printers for our books for a number of years and invariably there ends up being a certain level of product failures, usually under 1% of the books we've had printed in the past have been defective. It may be due to the fact that a lot of printing is starting to ramp up for holiday season delivery, but whatever is the case our current shipments have had 30-40% failure rates, with some covers being completely misaligned, title words being cut off, and issues with the interior pages as well. This has resulted in another shipping delay as we work to get enough quality books to fill all the orders.

As it stands, we have begun shipping out orders and will continue to do so as quickly as possible until all orders are fulfilled. If you have any specific questions regarding whether or not your order has shipped feel free to reach out to us either by direct message via Kickstarter, or by emailing [email protected] with a subject relating to missing order. We are working closely with our printer to get this situation rectified and will keep everyone updated as we continue to ship items out.

Thank you for your continued patience.

Deanna Young Preview
almost 6 years ago – Thu, May 24, 2018 at 07:56:20 PM

We're coming to the close of the campaign and things are going great. We appreciate all of the support that everyone has provided.

And now for the good stuff, an excerpt from "Infestation" by Deanna Young:

The station’s sirens blared to life. The attack had started. Could the station guards stop them? What type of protocols would the station follow? Would she end up as collateral damage as they opened fire on the retreating ship? Hundreds of questions raced through Ciena’s head.

She shuffled backward, careful to make as little noise as possible. There was a vent a few feet back that would have a view of what was going on. Maybe she could sneak out while no one was watching. She pushed a vent blade, making it tilt open. Three men were guarding the ship. They had guns trained on the door that exited the docking bay. No, sneaking out was not an option. Maybe a distraction? Her mind raced trying to think of something she could do to draw the guards away. Could she get to the controls of the ship and cause a malfunction that disabled it?

Too late. Shouts and the sound of large objects being heaved on board and dropped could barely be heard over the noise of the sirens.

Subtle vibrations moved through the tube accompanied by a barely audible thrum. The ships engines had turned on. They were preparing to disembark.

The guards moved to the rear of a group of pirates wearing gas masks of some kind, guarding their flank. All of the pirates exiting the station were wearing gas masks. Two of them were carrying a large cube with pulsing blue lights. A second dark cube followed along behind the first. Ciena's heart skipped a beat.

That was the power transformer and energy modulator that helped the station regulate and redistribute the power it captured from the distant sun and occasional flares. Without it, the station would run out of power in its backup cells within a few days. The pirates had the main cube and the backup. The occupants of the station would freeze to death as the environmental shield failed and temperature systems could no longer keep up with the demands of the station. They have no idea outgoing messages are blocked. They couldn't even call for help. Contact from this far out wasn’t regular and any radio silence that lasted less than a day was usually discounted as solar interference of some kind.

The lack of exchanged fighting and the steady, but not rushed manner of the pirates made Ciena’s blood run cold. Was everyone already dead? No, don’t think like that.

Ciena set her jaw. I will not watch this happen and do nothing. Not again.

W.O. Hemsath Preview
almost 6 years ago – Thu, May 24, 2018 at 12:52:26 AM

A short preview from W.O. Hemsath's "Rumpelstiltskin 2.0:"

But it’s not a drone. It’s four strange men in suits.

I stay behind the half-opened door. “Can I help--”

The first three push past me and head for my computers at the table.

“Hey!” I lunge after them, but the fourth man, still in the doorway, grabs my wrist. Twisting away does nothing but hurt my arm. He doesn’t budge when I push against him. The give of his flesh and the strength of his muscles under his suit feel unnatural.

 Not a man. An android.

Two of the others close my laptops while the third heads into the kitchen. The fourth remains motionless, trapping me in the doorway.

“I demand to know who sent you. This is a private residence. You are not authorized to enter.”

It doesn’t respond. I open my mouth to scream for help but there’s a pinch in my arm. The last thing I see is the fourth intruder lowering an empty syringe.
